Made the one play of the day count Thursday as Robbie’s War came through for $17.00 win tote in a thrilling Santa Anita 5th. The Jim Cassidy trainee won a photograph from 40-1 Lemou who ran every bit as as well as the victorious War Chant gelding. The exotics were bountiful, with a $213 exacta, $1,075 tri and $6,447 super (All $1). Glad Rich Eng and I had a chance to discuss therace, and I hope some had an opportunity to take advantage. Much goes right in AQU P6, GP P4 hits; Factor wows..

Rather magical afternoon Saturday as nearly every ticket-building decision at Aqueduct and Gulfstream went ‘right’. Carryover P6 play at the Big A hinged on single of Tocco d’Oro in the 4th leg 8th race, and he held off the oncoming Fortitude to give the play a good chance of success. Payoff of $12,231, plus another $912 in consolations, is the kind of return you need as often as they can be authored to reward your interest and effort in working at horseplay. The ticket was lucrative thanks to the opening leg’s $15.20 winner Tapped Out Bruno. The next longest number came from 9-2 Ground Force ($11.80) in the NY-MSW 7th.

Simultaneously, the day was tracking favorably at Gulfstream, where the late quad delivered a very nice $1,063 on the $1 suggestion that cost $60. There, the single of stunning Hilda’s Passion was a free square, and it allowed for a 3x4x1x5 structure which netted $13.40 Lucas Brady and $15.20 Lose None in the 8th and 9th. Leaving Lose None off the P5 ticket cost the casher there, but at least 4 of 5 consos ($35) came close to offsetting the $45 investment.

Couldn’t get the multis at Oaklawn or Santa Anita, but watching The Factor’s exciting Rebel performance add intrigue to the Derby Trail and MacLean’s Magic scintillating debut, more than made up for it after the first half of the day. I hope everyone did well Saturday! Santa Anita the focus today as it closes out a really nice three day skein of racing..

P6 doesn’t guarantee riches; Great Friday card at SA

No matter how you get one, or how little it pays, it’s always fun and rewarding to get through a P6 sequence. Yes it only brought back $250, (plus another $67 on consos).. and yes scratching into the winning post time favorite (The Zapster) was a back door method. But it’s always a confidence booster. Hope some played along and did well. Was a little surprised the sequence ‘chalked’ the way it did as the races looked pretty fun and compelling.

Action at Santa Anita today is of near weekend level quality with a great Joe Hernandez down the hill and full field turf mile ALW as a co-feature. There are some nice MDN sophomore fillies on the hill to start the P6, and even the $10k 4th and $25k 6th are good events. Should be great fun and a great way to start a big spring weekend! Another 2 hour ATR today, before we return to 9a-12p Monday!

Just enough upsetters Wednesday at Aqueduct to render the P6 unhittable and my P4 a loser. Did do nicely with the feature triple of $77.50 for each dollar bet, as Bwana Babe, Dolce Pentimento and Kittylicious checked home in anticipated order. Small sextet pot of $16k to start out with, and the sequence is more than somewhat tricky. Hope you did OK Wednesday and enjoyed the bankroll conversation with Steve Davidowitz as well…
