I personally think that your soul is the same as your mind and body and that all three go kaput the day your heart stops beating.

also....

is there more meaning to life on Earth if there IS an afterlife, or if there is NOT an afterlife? wouldnt what you do on earth be more important if it was the end all, not everlasting?

so many interesting questions and answers. I love hearing about other people's beliefs.
I agree. It is a fascinating subject, because the question itself encompasses everything we know (and don't know) about what may or may not come next.

It deserves its own thread.

Oh, and your capitalization needs work. It's capital G-o-d.
I didn't think you'd answer it. Even you must realize how ridiculous it is but you'd never admit it. So instead you deflect. Typical douchebag move.

Well played.

I like this answer

so do you believe in hell? i find the concept of hell to be so evil and horrible, I dont know why any God (big G or little g) would create something like it. what are the requirements to stay out of the place? If you are one of the most generous people on the planet, and always look to do what is right, but you are an athiest, does that mean you burn for eternity? its just not something I can bring myself to support.

"Organized religion is a sham and a crutch for weak-minded people who need strength in numbers. It tells people to go out and stick their noses in other people's business. I live by the golden rule: Treat others as you'd want them to treat you. The religious right wants to tell people how to live."

i agree... the one thing, as it related to Michelle Bachmann, is that I do not want my political leaders to base their policies off beliefs in higher powers. Because there are no right or wrong answers, and look how much bad has come of religious based policy - "God willed me to do it" -crusades

I agree with this when focusing only on the religious right (which I think is just a very very minor part of religion).

but as far as organized religion in general... I think it has more to do with not wanting to deal with your own mortality than it does wanting to tell others how to live. People dont want to die and be done, with heaven, you get a different option. It's comforting.

Mr. Ventura would be surprised to see that his golden rule is word for word translated from Matthew 7:12.

It can be a crutch for those who choose to be weak-minded, but those who choose to contemplate the big questions and things that are infinite by definition are normally open minded.

Do you fancy yourself as open minded?

I do try to be. Of course like many here, on the subject of politics I tend to have made my mind up with what I have observed so far in life. I do reserve the right to change my opinions as my conclusions and experiences change.

Gotcha... I wish this Almighty God would talk to Player_Player about the folly of betting 2 favorites Win/Place. How many 8.00 bets that bring back 3.60 will it take

I find that very revealing and truthful, in the end we are all products of our life's experiences. I know my rather extreme political positions come from my own experiences. A person who has firm religious beliefs yet is able to remain open to the beliefs of others is someone that I, for one, respect.

But your contributions to this room have been stupid at best. You and Joey and dino can have your little circle jerk and have the same conversation over and over again. It's not going to change anything.

Change it will not.....my statement speaks for itself....Watch out Player_Player is looking for a circle jerk partner

As usual, you make no sense. Whose kool aid am I drinking? Simple question, requires an answer so simple even an idiot like you should be able to do it.

Come on douche, make me proud.

Too bad Bachman isn't black because bozo's like this wouldn't have the balls to say anything bad about a black woman.

i read something a few months back..something along the lines of just because you have an issue with the messenger, it doesn't make the message less important.
as for obama, he may be naive, inept, in over his head...but he's not a scumbag. i didn't vote for him, or mccain (first time ever i voted for a 3rd party candidate) in the last election...but if for some odd reason i had to choose between just obama and this gal, well-i'd be voting democrat.

this woman is a nutcase. you can't use logic with people who think they have a direct line with gaaawd.

Career criminals... sorry meant career politicians.. are helping to bring us down. Don't actually care about the people they are supposed to serve, just care about the next election and padding their pockets.

I'm very fiscally conservative (libertarian), and the republicans are so far off from being conservative they shouldnt even use the name.

What we need is to fire every one of them, create a strong 3rd party so there is some sort of balance, and find politicians who actually care about the future of this country. term limits are a must.

that's how i raised my kids. so many 'christians' are some of the most hateful, judgemental, bigoted people you'd ever see. it's amazing.
