I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong?"

From the May 17 broadcast of The Glenn Beck Program:

BECK: Hang on, let me just tell you what I'm thinking. I'm thinking about killing Michael Moore, and I'm wondering if I could kill him myself, or if I would need to hire somebody to do it. No, I think I could. I think he could be looking me in the eye, you know, and I could just be choking the life out -- is this wrong? I stopped wearing my What Would Jesus -- band -- Do, and I've lost all sense of right and wrong now. I used to be able to say, "Yeah, I'd kill Michael Moore," and then I'd see the little band: What Would Jesus Do? And then I'd realize, "Oh, you wouldn't kill Michael Moore. Or at least you wouldn't choke him to death." And you know, well, I'm not sure.

It was tongue in cheek...

everyone needs to lighten the fucl< up..on all sides !!!!

It may have been "tongue in cheek", but read the Media Matters link I posted, down at the bottom, where three people arrested for threatening violence say listening to Glenn Beck talk about it influenced them. The crazy latch onto anything.

Talking about killing people you don't like, politically, for ratings, is wrong. It's creates an environment where violence becomes socially acceptable. Even Sarah Palin said, in her famous last speech of her political career two days ago, that words can cause violence (about the only thing I agreed with in her victim screed). Palin should know, she got a whole lot of people angry and worked up last August over imaginary "death panels" - a lie she told to get people angry and worked up.

It's not a joke. We don't need to lighten the fucl< up - some need to tone down talking about killing people.

And who will decide what is right or wrong or if the tone is right? you Riot?

Is it only right if it's what you believe? Perhaps I like to listen to what Glenn Beck says or Howard Stern or Steve Byk? Where does it end Riot - where you say it ends? Where you say the tone is right?

No thanks Riot No thanks !!

I am gonna have to hit you with a gfy.

And I'm gonna have to throw your silly immature gfy back in your face. You make the additional point that some people apparently don't have the intelligence to debate issues without turning to personal attack.

Society decides what's right or wrong. It always has. Talking about killing people in the public eye, for ratings, as a joke, is wrong. Society is all over that right now. You are free to keep defending it.

I've never seen anybody say you can't listen to Glenn Beck. But if he wants to talk about killing people, he shouldn't get too upset when his fellow Americans exercise their freedom of speech and call him out publically to be a dangerous, violence-inciting jackass, and threaten his job because they don't want to hear that crap on the airwaves about racists, and killing people, and "someone ought to go blow them away". Freedom of speech goes both ways.

The overwhelming theme of Sarah Palin's 7-minute victim screed was that she really, really doesn't like being on the receiving end of her very own political methods. It was hilarious. The far right hysterics can dish it out, but damn, they can't take their own medicine.

Please, feel free to quote all the times I've been the initiator cursing or swearing at someone on DT.

And you and Riley can post all the stuff you can find in the last 3 years or so, about Democrats calling for people to be killed, for saying our government may have to be overthrown, and calling for citizens to be armed and dangerous. Fox News hasn't been able to come up with it. I'm sure you'll do better. Maintaining it's "equal" is beyond absurd, to anyone watching the political show.

BTW, the Palin-Hannity drinking game was pretty easy: Palin forgot she lied and called the marks on her PAC map "surveyors symbols", and went right back to calling them bullseyes. And she blamed the "mainstream media" for all her troubles within 3 minutes. DRINK.

it was tongue and cheek is your defense?

problem is with his talk of killing moore, much like things on here, you lose much in translation. i don't listen to glenn beck, nor will i. i just know i saw something written about what he'd said. when it was mentioned on here that beck was anti-violence, i googled the story. now, explain to me how anyone who reads that would know it wasn't serious? that's a rhetorical question, as you can't explain it.

it's funny that either side is calling out the other, asking for kinder and gentler. politicians like nothing more than to accuse their opponent of being everything short of the devil incarnate. then, pols like to try to take the high road in denouncing the other party. anyone saying that only the left-or right- needs to clean up their acts really has blinkers on.

Michael Moore is probably the 2nd biggest douchebag on entire planet next to Osama bin Laden.

He shouldnt be killed, but Gitmo would be a good spot for him.
