Please. I had dinner with my parents tonight, whom Faux News has convinced this is the end of the healthcare world. Even though both have regular insurance Medicare supplement, Medicare, Rx Supplement, and advanced directives. How they got through that without being put to sleep by the government is a miracle!

Seriously - which part of this is supposed to be the nightmare 2010 Political Lie of The Year, Government Takeover of Healthcare and "Death Panels"? (other than what is really happening under Governor Jan Brewer today?)

Quote:
Under the new policy, outlined in a Medicare regulation, the government will pay doctors who advise patients on options for end-of-life care, which may include advance directives to forgo aggressive life-sustaining treatment.

[Edit: or - gasp! - may include advance directives desiring all aggressive life-sustaining treatment. Patients choice]

The final version of the health care legislation, signed into law by President Obama in March, authorized Medicare coverage of yearly physical examinations, or wellness visits. The new rule says Medicare will cover “voluntary advance care planning,” to discuss end-of-life treatment, as part of the annual visit.

They remind me of Bama fans who disliked Franchione but loved Shula.

What they need is a swift slap to the face and a stern STFU.

What - exactly - do you dislike about Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act? That children can now remain insured on their parents policies until they are 26? That sick children cannot be kicked out of being insured for life due to exceeding a "lifetime cap of benefits" by the time they are eight years old? That your insurance company can't suddenly deny a claim based upon a pre-existing condition?

There are some good points to this stuff. The point that I am against this bill is why should a unemployed person who isn't looking for work get another free handout. Won't they be covered under this bill? Im hoping it doesn't happen. It won't be fair to the working people who have to support trash like that. I heard that unemployment benefits are now a taxable item.

Not really any differently than they are today via Medicaid. The bill expands Medicaid availability to those earning up to 133% of the federal poverty level.

What is your view on a worthless unemployed person not looking for a job getting another handout? Do you think it's fair to all of the working people and the unemployed people who are actually trying to find work? Also I am curious what the premiums are going to be. Im just glad I won't be using that worthless insurance.

How about a worthless person stealing our money by collecting a government pension??? Why should the government still be paying pensions when nearly every company has done away with them and switched to 401-K?

Easy, she doesn't believe there is such a thing. Or they are so rare they need to be cared for and protected as any other endangered animal.

Easy, the fact the government is forcing the healthy and fit to pay for the unhealthy and obese disguised as mandatory coverage and subsidization. Next?

Right now, and for the past several decades, the healthy and fit pay for the unhealthy and obese. This will decrease those costs. GASP!

"Disguised as mandatory coverage and subsidization" that makes no sense. You'll have to use the Dell Detranslator to rephrase what you are trying to say.

I suppose you don't know that there is, specifically and deliberately written into the bill, zero ability to collect any penalty for not purchasing insurance.

Then we're all good. But I think you're wrong as usual.
