Seriously?

So N. Korea is now Bush's fault? The idea that the US is "stretched" too thin to respond to an outbreak of hostilities in Korea is laughable. Do you really thin that if a full scale war were to break out we would be sending anything other than carriers, planes and cruise missiles? This isnt 1965. We arent sending giant numbers of ground forces into SE Asia regardless of who gets attacked or where our troops are currently located.

Wow.. Please tell me how you ascertained that I think North Korea is Bush's fault. And if you don't think we are not streched too thin both militarily and financally than there really isn't anything I can say. You truly think Red and Blue and its a shame because your posts are some of hte most intelligent on these threads.

You made it out in your initial post that we are in some danger because of Bush's wartime desires. This is not true. Everything that happens cant be traced back to Bush regardless of how much you hate him. The riots of the world will back your claim by saying that the n koreans are more likely to strike becuse we are "stretched so thin". Of course that is almost assuredly not the case. The fact is that we arent stretched that thin in the areas of the military in which a more convential modern warfare against a country's forces like n korea's would entail. Our superioity in the air and navy have been muted against forces hiding in caves and dressing like civilians. When we invaded Iraq (both times), the convential forces of Iraq fell in a rapid fashion. There is no reason to believe that the N Koreans army, navy and ar force wouldnt be obliterated in a few days if it came to that. Of course it won't because the Chinese wont let us. The idea that large numbers of US troops would be required to occupy n Korea is fictional because there is zero chance of that happening. The problem with the N Koreans is that they have or are close to having nukes. It doesnt matter how many forces or how well off financially we are if they decide to lob a couple of those at S Korea or Japan. Either way Bush hasnt led to this problem or created any dilema's in dealing with them any more than any other President in the last 50 years.

the key to all this is china. unless we can prevail upon that country to try to tamp down n. korea's sudden enthusiasm for war, we won't do a thing. china is their big (only??) ally. if they decide to back n. korea, it'll be a problem. if they don't, n. korea will retreat back into the hole it's crawled out of.
