Don't make surface an excuse? Why not? Are synthetic and dirt the same? If you are a dirt horse, why would you ship across the country to run on a surface foreign to you?

It's not like the connections of the horses you mentioned have been saying they are better on synth...then running on dirt like the connections of Zenyatta.

Be honest, do you really not view the surface issue as a understandable reason no one has shipped out there?

I understand the issue BUT if they did and lost to her, the surface would always be an excuse for them. Apple Blossom was a level playing field but no one stepped up to run against Zenyatta.

Isn't it an excuse though? When turf horses try dirt and flop, isn't surface the excuse then?

Two of the four horses you mentioned weren't even eligible for the Apple Blossom.

There is also the money issue. None of those left coast f & m races has a purse of more than 300K. Why would an eastern dirt mare ship there to run on a plastic surface for a 150-180 K pot?
