Graustark is a good one. I think he came undefeated into the Bluegrass with a ton of hype, but lost that race and suffered a career-ending injury. He had a classic pedigree too (by Ribot) and could have been any kind.

And even I wouldn't call T.V. Lark "great," but he was pretty good. His daughter Pink Pigeon was a real flyer on the turf as well.

I earlier made that distinction fromn the original list, but TV Lark was a bit better than pretty good, IMO .

I liked PP a lot ...
