Sighty's theory makes the most sense, now that I think about it, since I guess it's possible to think Invasor ducked Bernardini in a race that was possible for both to be in.

Wait, didn't Invasor win the Suburban too?

Wow, this is confusing!
If I guessed right can you convince Andy to send me an autographed 2013 NYRA calendar?

He is obviously thinking of the JCGC, but that is at Belmont.

No, not really. I think if Bernardini was in his normal position, since the pace was pretty hot, he still would have been run down by Invasor. I could be wrong, but I don't think it is clear either way. Invasor's versatility was proven, Bernardini's wasn't.

I am sure he was thinking about Invasor scratching from the Gold Cup with a fake fever.

I agree with Doug. Castellano panicked, thinking he wasn't running, and asked WAY too soon. I made plenty of money with Invasor winning, but he shouldn't have.

Certainly possible, but did we have any proof Bernardini could win from that position in a route? Very few horses with his style are successful with that maneuver.

He lost by a half length, after a premature move, which is enough proof for me, even though I get your point.

I'm on my phone so I'm not looking up a chart, but wasn't it more than a half?

Here is one turf horse who should have ducked Bernardini...

Danehill's usually suck hard on the dirt compared to turf. Frankel was Galileo on top and Danehill on the bottom ... it's hard to imagine a pedigree any more slanted to turf VS dirt.

After their debut, they're 13-for-32 (41% wins) and they've stretched out fine so far, winning 4 of 9 route attempts.

He's based in New York ... two of his 14 horses to race so far have already earned over 175K.

I still think he's quite overpriced at his $7,500 stud fee. He is Frost Giant, afterall... AKA the horse who single handedly ruined the Grade 1 status of the most historic New York stakes race, the Suburban Handicap...probably forever.
Has one in the 3rd at Aqueduct tomorrow.
