now, dullahan-that horse needs to go over next year.
Do I need to open the can of worms about how none of the US horses could be on lasix over there lol? I wanna think that had something to do with all of them getting pummeled at this past World Cup Day.

Although Chantal said that Game on Dude hated the heavy surface and never responded.

Well that clears it up.

Game On Dude was horribly compromised by the outside draw, and more so, was given an atrocious ride - she absolutely had to send him, and she didn't. Then, channeling her inner-Mirco Demuro, thought..."I saw last year's race, where he was towards the rear early and caught everyone napping on a slow pace, so let me make a move toward the lead down the back."

Only problem was, the 2012 DWC pace was about 1 second faster through the first 1/4, and about 3.2 seconds faster through the first half. Never had a chance.

Meanwhile, Lezcano got Royal Delta in all sorts of trouble, and while she looked like she was loving every second of being in Dubai, just got bullied and jostled in the race. Lezcano got slammed at every turn by riders who were used to being in that type of race. Partly why I'm not surprised for the rider change.

Lasix...maybe had something to do with it, but once the gates opened and the race played out, both GOD and Royal Delta were up against it (coming from someone who picked Royal Delta on top).

is that a new rule, or has it always been that way? seems the us horses only started struggling once the new surface went in.

Lasix never mattered for our good horses who went over and mopped them all up on dirt most every single year.

If I'm still alive, I'll probably be 55 years old before another one of our horses wins the Dubai World Cup.

I still think people don't realize how close Gio Ponti came to winning it twice, and got terrible rides both years.

But i'm sure Doug never considered Gio one of our good dirt horses. I'm sure we might send over a synthetic freak that will win it one day...

No arguing about Gio and dirt, but the point remains, he was incredibly competitive in two runnings, getting questionable rides both years.

I agree 100%. Ramon wasn't to sharp with his rides on Gio in the DWC.

It is not like U.S. horses did well when they had dirt there and couldn't race on Lasix. The Tapeta must have nothing to do with the recent U.S. performances, it must be that they can't race when they are not on that performance enhancing Lasix! That's the ticket!
