Neck 'n Neck's figure from his allowance win was boosted to a 101, so he has run 101-102 in his last 2 starts at CD. Whether he is a CD horse for course or just a late developing 3YO will be determined soon, as I imagine Wilkes will run him in the Jim Dandy.

More importantly, with that win, Flower Alleys stud fee should jump up to like 75k.

The performances of Royal Delta and Game On Dude since returning from Dubai are interesting.

In the days of Nad Al Sheba and dirt -- our horses would go over and run their guts out and dominate. Some of the ones who ran huge would come back and fire a couple more good ones, while others wouldn't. You'd have to hear about the so-called 'Dubai bounce'

Royal Delta and Game On Dude just did the reverse -- they got clowned by international grass horses on tapeta -- and both of them came right back here and ran dramatically well.

Maybe the phrase 'Dubai bounce' will be replaced with 'Dubai Non-effort'

Yeah that foreign lady on HRTV mentioned that.

I just wanted to mention something re the Dubai bounce.

Ambitious Dragon... Horse of the Year, 2011
Good Ba Ba... Horse of the Year, 2008.
Vengeance of Rain... Horse of the Year, 2007.
Bullish Luck... Horse of the Year, 2006.
Beauty Flash... multiple G1 winner.
Russian Pearl, G1 winner.
.
The thing these champions of HK racing have in common? Not one of them won a single race since returning from Dubai.

Beauty Flash has run 11 times since Dubai (including today), 7 for Good Ba Ba, 5 for Vengeance of Rain, Ambitious Dragon 2, Bullish Luck 5 times and 5 for Russian Pearl.

I didn't used to think there was a bounce.

I don't know what this is but it's not good.

Just sayin.

But, how does one account for the sudden great form Godolphin horses show once they've returned back to the USA from Dubai?

Coach Pants 06-17-2012 01:41 PM

Allah's blessing?

Hope you're not asking me cutie cause the ruination of Cutlass Bay was the last straw. Don't know, don't care, and apologies to anyone I fought with defending them. I was wrong.

Maybe some wannabe sheikh ;) can answer.

i figure that ultimately dubai will have done american racing a favor by installing that surface. perhaps it will mean a return to greatness for the big cap out west, oaklawn needs to infuse some money into their premier older horse race...i can see top dirt horses skipping the trip-what's the point? they're helpless on that surface.
now, dullahan-that horse needs to go over next year.

Do I need to open the can of worms about how none of the US horses could be on lasix over there lol? I wanna think that had something to do with all of them getting pummeled at this past World Cup Day.

Although Chantal said that Game on Dude hated the heavy surface and never responded.

Although Chantal said that Game on Dude hated the heavy surface and never responded.

Game On Dude was horribly compromised by the outside draw, and more so, was given an atrocious ride - she absolutely had to send him, and she didn't. Then, channeling her inner-Mirco Demuro, thought..."I saw last year's race, where he was towards the rear early and caught everyone napping on a slow pace, so let me make a move toward the lead down the back."

Only problem was, the 2012 DWC pace was about 1 second faster through the first 1/4, and about 3.2 seconds faster through the first half. Never had a chance.

Meanwhile, Lezcano got Royal Delta in all sorts of trouble, and while she looked like she was loving every second of being in Dubai, just got bullied and jostled in the race. Lezcano got slammed at every turn by riders who were used to being in that type of race. Partly why I'm not surprised for the rider change.

Lasix...maybe had something to do with it, but once the gates opened and the race played out, both GOD and Royal Delta were up against it (coming from someone who picked Royal Delta on top).
