Pet peeve - and some of the DT Patriotic types won't like this - but I FUCl<ING HATE that they play the national anthem 30 minutes before the live racing up here. It's stupid as sh!t when a whole bunch of racing is going on. They had it timed last summer - where the national anthem would always start playing during the running of Saratoga's 8th race.

So, you have to stand up, take off your hat, and take your eyes away from the TV to stare at the flag in the infield. And sometimes - a guy at another table will call you out if you don't and try to make you feel like an Al Qadia loving jackass.

Anyway - I was having a total meltdown type day. And low and behold - national anthem time. So, I stand up and start walking to the bathroom with a look of disgust on my face - all the while shouting

"Kazakhstan is the greatest, country in the world!,
All other countries are run by little girls.,
Kazakhstan number one exporter of potassium,
all other countries have inferior potassium.
"

One of the cooler tellers - who I always bitch about the national anthem to - is laughing his ass off and shouts "what a jerk! Honor the flag!"
Where do I get some of this potassium?

Oh, and before I forget, how does it feel to have a bad beat?

I hit a superfecta for $3,600 for a buck on Derby day on a genuine mis-punch.

Stuff evens out for all of us - even you.

Hardly. Your good fortunes that have befallen you are truly legendary.

I assure you, the core group of people I routinely went to the track with, day in and day out, for well over 10 years, not one had even one stroke of luck of the type that is seemingly almost routine with you.

Personally, it took over twenty years of playing horses before I got put up in a DQ for the first time, as opposed to the dozens of times I was taken down. Of course, the one time it did happen, I was just fooling around as I put the last $3 in my Youbet account on some 7/2 shot.

You really should survey people at the track, or on here, and see just how rare accidental $3600 superfectas are.

As DT poster Ogygian can tell you - my superfecta tickets are typically pretty complicated and sometimes involve a lot of numbers and oddball strategies like keying a horse to finish 3rd.

He knows this because he has a habit of coming up behind me in line when I'm punching them out and saying stuff like "Just use them all. All, all, all, all. God there are a lot of numbers"

I hardly ever use "all" by the way - not even in the 4th slot where I might use 10 or 11 of the 12 if one or two are so hopeless they can't even muster a 4th.

Do you remember that time Pit (not PIP) left off that Frankel/Juddmonte invader out of his P6, and that horse won, costing him the P6? No winning tix that day and the carryover was about 250-300k.

This from the biggest Frankel/Juddmonte fan on the planet.
