Really, you thought he was awesome from watching that game? He's a gunner. The guy can obviously play, but I think the hype machine is in overdrive with him. I wouldn't mind seeing the Pepsi Center spontaneously combust on Saturday as you'll have two of the most annoying entities in college basketball in the Duke of the West (Gonzaga) and Jimmer himself on the court at the same time.

yeah he was everywhere.. and he has a sweet shot

he rushed a few, but even when he rushes shots they go in half the time.

Also it seems like he's the only player on the court. He alone makes BYU a good basketball team.

I was impressed by his passing too, I wonder what his role will be in the NBA.

Jimmer seems like the Tim Tebow of college basketball

I will imagine carrying luggage, waiving a towel and high fiving the players as they come off the floor.

You don't seriously think he will have a significant role in the NBA do you?

He is a really nice college player, but in the pros, he will be too slow to guard a point and too small to guard a wing.

Tebow actually won something in college. Although, the comparison might be solid. Tebow spent much of his time last season carrying luggage, waving a towel and high fiving guys as they came off the field.

His role in the NBA will be to go play in Turkey or something. 93 percent of the crap he gets away with at BYU won't work in the league.

A nice college player....might stick around in the NBA with the right team, we've seen a lot of this type player in the last few years, coming of the bench to hopefully add a little offense would be his best case future it would seem. Might average 6-8 pts a game with right squad.

Hansbrough, Blair, Redick as examples. Excellent college players but skill set somewhat limited for NBA. Hansbrough has been playing lights out recently with increased playing time, Blair has developed into a solid reserve and Redick adds scoring off the Orlando bench. Players who make up for lack of NBA skill set with hustle and desire.

Hold on there. Blair and Reddick don't have NBA skill sets? What?
Blair is an excellent low post scorer and rebounder. Reddick is has great range and is a solid defender. The idea that they are only in the NBA because of "hustle and desire" is complete bullshit.

TH is averaging 10 and 5 but isnt really good enough to play more than he does.

The knock on all three has been exactly that, not my determination, I love all three for their desire and hustle. When Reddick first came into the league, he was dismissed as a spot up shooter lacking in defense and ability to get his own shot. Through hard work he has greatly improved in both areas. Blair was seen as too small for underneath and every scout questioned his knees, SA, to their credit took a chance and have been nicely rewarded. TH is showing promise with increased playing time....the point is that often big time college players find their skill set does not translate into NBA stardom. Those who do make it do so with great work ethic and desire, hopefully this kid can do the same!

No one is calling Jimmer a potential NBA star are they?
The three players you listed all have a unique NBA skill that keeps them in the league. If you have 1 elite skill and are willing to work for less than top dollar you can play for along time. Reddick has great range and is athletic enough to defend 2's fairly well. Blair is a lot more athletic than he looks and is a very good rebounder and has a light touch. I don't really know that Hansborough has an elite skill other than a high motor. But all three of these guys are limited players who won't ever get more than 25 minutes a game on a good team. They arent simply in the NBA because they work hard. They have NBA skills. Jimmer can score. He cant do much else but he will play as long as he stays quick on his feet and can shoot. He will never be more than a role player because he just isnt good enough but his peak may be Vinny Johnson which means something.

Those guys are NBA sized players for their respective positions. Tyler is 6-9. Reddick is 6-4 (short but not ridiculously short) and Blair is a wide body 6-8. Fredette is a 6-2 2 guard. He is not fast enough to cover an NBA 1 or big enough to cover a 2. He will be too slow to get in the lane against 1's and will be buillied by 2's.

I think he compares to a whole slew of guys over the years like hopson, respert, alford, hoiberg (great nickname), rodney monroe...the list goes on forever. Not the same position but how much of a bust was adam morrison? Again, two slow to beat 3's and too weak to play 4.

If you aren't "nba sized", you better be really athletic to be able to get a shot off in the big leagues. Jimmer is kind of like a tweener guard. I don't care if he can shoot to 40 feet, if he can't get the shot off and can't cover, he isn't going to play.

Blair is not 6'8", closer to 6"6"
No one is making the argument that JF is going to be a really good player but unlike those guys listed he can score and if Eddie House can play 10 years in the NBA, JF can make it too. Hell Steve Nash is an abysmal defensive player and he is a shoo in hall of famer.
