Randall was right on when talking about the representation of the Egyptian men protestors. You have to read this: http://www.cnn.com/2011/OPINION/02/1...x.html?hpt=T2# "If you are a woman living in Cairo, chances are you have been sexually harassed. It happens on the streets, on crowded buses, in the workplace, in schools, and even in a doctor's office. According to a 2008 survey of 1,010 women conducted by the Egyptian Center for Women's rights, 98 percent of foreign women and 83 percent of Egyptian women have been sexually harassed." 98% of foreign women and 83% of Egyptian women seem like its a huge cultural problem to me. But hey, Riot will just call me a bigot because I feel like Muslim men... particularly in the Middle East.. treat women like absolute dog crap.

I'll call you a bigot if you act like one. Are you?

I'm bigoted towards old lady's who live in Kentucky and think they are smarter than what they are.
I'm bigoted towards the 100,000,000 Muslim scum that treat women like ****.

Who is ignoring that? I posted a article about that very thing early on in this thread. Seems you are a bit late to the party, jumping on that bandwagon.

Clearly there is a vast cultural divide with regard to the rights of women, but the implication in the thread seemed to be that "Democracy In Egypt" would mean the systematic raping of women. I think its a bit more complicated than that, and I think Riot was correct in pointing out that the weeks of protest without widespread reports of rape shouldn't be tossed aside by this one - admittedly horrendous - incident. I don't think anybody is saying that an Egyptian democracy will mean a state where women are afforded equal rights. But that doesn't mean it will automatically be a society where women are raped all the time (or where rape is viewed as acceptable) either. |

Well....when people ask you to explain a point that you made and you refuse to do so and instead just tell them that they're "full of ****" I'm not going to feel all that sorry for you.

And maybe you should go back and read the beginning of this thread, and count all those people asking me to explain that point? And who was insulting and attacking who?

She asked about your football celebration example, and you refused to explain. That's fine I guess, but I'm not sure why you're surprised when people "bash" you when you insist on behaving in that fashion. |

Because with Sharia Law, and the 100,000,000 Muslims who practice / believe that... rape is acceptable. You are ALLOWED to rape your wife. and if you rape women, she will be punished for "fornication".. sometimes with the death penalty. It is important that we dont turn a blind eye to these disgusting practices that occur in the Middle East every day. But I'm just a bigot, so what do i know! also, sexual harrassment in Egypt seems a little bit different than our definition over here.. Women get groped in public, treated like lower class, are generally considered to not be on the same stature as men.

It seems unlikely that they'll be kept "out." If a parliamentary system is what they end up with, it seems likely that the Muslim Brotherhood will win some seats. How many is, of course, impossible to know, but I don't see how they could be kept out entirely.
