How about a little informal voting here to see where DT people who actually took the time to vote ranked some of the ones who have been discussed? At the risk of being ridiculed, here are some of mine with the current top 20 and a few others I feel are misplaced.

Barbaro- in the context of top 250, maybe a 6
Eight Belles- seriously, was 2nd in Ky Derby and that was her best. 3
Rachel Alexandra- best 3yo filly I have seen gets you a 9.

Lost in the Fog- lost his only tough race. 5
Blind Luck- good 3yo filly, maybe 7
Ouija Board- underrated. Globe trotting mare almost won 3 BC. 9

....oh there are just too many that raced in the last 5 years that are overrated. Almost all of these are champions of high class, but in the context of a "top 250 all time" they just don't measure up.

I'd rate Zenyatta maybe a 7, and Blind Luck, probably a 5.5 or 6.

I can think of too many fillies/mares that would have embarrassed either of those two on dirt.
