Zenyatta makes the top 10!

http://www.horseracingnation.com/pol...kings_All_Time

And in other news...

Native Dancer has steadily advanced and is currently #30 overall.

Stakes winner from 5 furlongs to 1.5 miles - good to see him finally established in the top 50.

And moving along...

Nashua is still having a hard go of it - Provisio (she the 63rd greatest horse of all-time by any gender) has a 14 spot lead on him.

As for this weeks top comment I happened to read:

67: Eight Belles - posted by ugozenyatta: poor gurl! did she injury herself during or after the race? did the jockey kno or was it tolate once her found out?

Now that Nashua has moved past Risen Star, he might be able to catch Lookin at Lucky.

What's funny is that Risen Star was a genuine Monster. He might have lapped Lookin at Lucky.

Louie Roussel and Ronnie Lamarque made quite an entertaining pair that year on the Triple Crown trail.

Did Pepper's Pride make the list? I just started going through it.

The crazy thing is making your way up from the bottom. Apparently Switch > Shuvee, Ta Wee, and Surfside.

Thunder Gulch 01-31-2011 09:07 AM

Artax is closing in on Count Fleet. Gonna be a photo

How did I get into racing?
When I was Watching jockeys season 1 the first episode I thought it was cool that a horse could be dead last and win and i follow that horse now! Her name Is ZENYATTA!

Favorite racing moment?
When Zenyatta won the 2009 Breeder's Cup Classic. Also who could for get Presious Passion ran his heart out in the 2009 Breeder's Cup Turf, he did come in 2nd but it was a good 2nd! also when Zenyatta lost her very first race, yeah i was sad i cried myself to sleep, but very very very few horses can make up that kind of ground. But im so very sad. But Awesome Feather might be the new Zenyatta. but no horse eva can replace THE QUEEN

ugozenyatta - Re: Uncle Mo 1/6/2011 1:36 PMI dont think this horse could win the kentucky derby maybe jaycito if you saw his run in the juvenille his run. and plus uncle mos pedigree

I suspect a big overlap between these people and Eclipse voters from the sounds of the comments.

It's Ellen Parker or Joe Drape under a screen alias.

Not trying to ruin the fun, but at what point do we just accept this list as a joke and move on?

I guess I am trying to ruin the fun.

How modest of the Zenyatta fans to keep her out of the top three.

Give them time they will come to their senses

I'm sorry - but Travis deserves an eclipse award in 2011 for the creation of this list. It's cool, colorful, and best illustrates the cluelessness of the avg racing fan.

Northern Dancer (not to be confused with Native Dancer) is currently #8 - while Kelso and Citation are #18 and #19.

To put Northern Dancer ahead of Kelso is as crazy as claiming that Archie Manning was a better NFL QB than Joe Montana, Johnny Unitas, and Dan Marino.

Archie Manning did make two pro bowls in his long NFL career - but his career record as a starting quarterback was 35-101-3 and he never once had a single winning season. But, he sired Payton and Eli !!

Northern Dancer was not a 2yo champion but he was a 3yo champion the year Kelso claimed his 5th straight Horse of the Year title. Imagine telling someone 45 years ago that Northern Dancer was a better race horse than Kelso and Citation.

I request a list from you. Your top 15 horses of all time. Tonight please.

Nascar1966 02-01-2011 03:57 PM

If Zenyatta ran more than 2 times against the boys maybe I would put her in the top ten. Beating up on marginal Grade II or at best Grade III fillies and mares on a synthetic surface doesn't mean a horse should be in the top ten. If Zenyatta was the 2nd coming of a Secretariat or Affirmed why did she only race against the boys twice. Her last race weight was given to her and she lost.

I'm surprised you put Easy Goer on the list but not Sunday Silence.

Easy Goer had the better career.

I rated him the best 2-year-old of the 80's - a decade of many super 2yo's - and the 2nd best 3yo of the 80's behind Sunday Silence.

Sunday Silence didn't do much at age 2 - and his edge over Easy Goer at age 3 was razor thin because of the head-to-head matches where he was able to exploit his tactical superiority while Easy Goer was picking the wrong races to break poorly, race erratically, and make pre-mature moves.

I think even Sunday Silence's biggest fans will admit Easy Goer should be rated higher when you take the entire career into consideration - and not just the 3yo season.
