to be fair it could have been 9/11 coverup, vaccine conspiracy, or trilateral commission. the actual weird obsession isn't all that important. it's not like the guy had any understanding of economics. it's just something he heard repeated.
I agree that he has no understanding of economics, but seriously, there is something about these guys and the gold standard. Timothy McVeigh was all about it, too.
