Yeah, but the trainer stuff is unavoidable.
That horse only ran one time on a dirt track prior ... it ran a 94 pace figure and 70 final figure in career start #2 at FG against winners. Basically looking like a filly with a bright future for four furlongs and than falling apart in the stretch. It's trainer at the time - Jeff Thornbury - was 2-for-44 at FG with a $0.27 ROI for the meet this year. To me - it just looked like a little maturation, plus a wet track, plus Pletcher's superior teeth cleaning program helped the filly sustain her FG speed for an extra furlong and a half. |
