I expected exactly what we are getting. A President who supports building the mosque despite who it offends but doesn't support a State who is willing to do the Fed's job and enforce immigration laws because of who it may offend.

Geez couldn't someone have told him to say 'while the U.S. constitution ensures Muslms the right to build a mosque on private property I would suggest they be more sensitive to the families of 911 victims and not build near ground zero.' I know he doesn't have it in him but in this case perhaps he should have brought out the teleprompter he's so fond of and read it.

If it was a GOP idea to cut food stamps, Riot would be 1-9 to be on the warpath.

Of course I was told by her that food stamps were actually economic stimulus so i guess this will hurt the economy...

Dunno about Riot, but I was furious when they cut them recently, and am equally furious that they're going to do it again.

This is true. You do know that they actually are good to stimulate the economy, right?

Simply dropping money out of airplanes is better stimulus than food stamps. The govt reimbursing stores for food that they paid farmers to produce isnt really stimulus, it is subsidy.

Well of course it is, but as far as social services that help the poor -- it's great stimulus, which is what I meant and what I should've said.

If you're of the mind that the govt. helping the poor eat is a bad idea altogether, then surely they're a bad idea -- but if we're providing social services to poor people, then food stamps are excellent as it provides food, helps local businesses, and goes back to those providing and shipping the food. It's a very solid social service program.

Yes, food stamps and unemployment assistance generate about $1.67 for each dollar spent in the economy, and tax cuts generate about 30 cents of economic growth for each dollar spent.

Of course you knew that

what happens when food stamp money is diverted to subsidize fruit for rich kids? More or less?

I think it's wrong to cut food stamp money. I think fruit and veggies for snacks for kids in school is great. Better than the soda and candy and McDonalds' crap in some schools now.

douche bag????? that's the best you got?? try to include "birth certificate" and "illegal aunt" in your next post and maybe call me a "ball sack" and you can enjoy the rest of your day!! if you invite nascar to your 12th birthday party, don't play "pin the tail on the donkey", because you both will end up in the e.r. with holes all over your body.
