The prison in question is an empty State facility that was going to be retrofitted to a Fed. There was no political dissension that I know of as the Fed was going to dump a bunch of money on IL and promised jobs for the downstate area. Then the people spoke up. Nationally many questioned bringing terrorists into the country whether they were jailed or not. Locally and that is probably what killed the deal people didn't want families and friends of terrorists visiting the area and as one man was quoted, "they look different and everyone around here has a weapon so we can take care of business" another words a portion of the citizens were and ready to act .

i just wondered why illinois....and if there were any political friends being made by obama choosing his homestate as the destination for these fellows. a lot of money involved there.
i wouldn't want them around here either by the way. they should be kept in a military facility, not a civilian...you'd have to think fort leavenworth for example would be more secure than a prison.

Pretty sure it was Durbin's idea. Right now with the whole Blago thing going on no one knows anyone or anything. That joker Scott Lee Cohen (who dems forced off the dem ticket as Lt.Gov. and says he was physically threatened) has gotten enough signatures and will now run for Gov. all but assuring downstate Rep Bradley wins. Rahm coming back to run for mayor? Alex G. running for Senate off his family's bank being taken over by the Feds. Politics always a fun ride here in IL.

He's also now also been issued a subpoena for Blago's trial..... he's on the tapes setting up meetings for Blago for the senate seat.

I think you're right with the prison idea being Durbin's.
