In the end there may be no more fitting way for Zenyatta's career to end than for her to lose an actual race....but then to win some phony award. She can now go out on top....because her supporters have manufactured it that way. Her legions of worshipers succeeded in doing what she could not, which is apropos given that they were always a more powerful force in print, on message boards, and on the airwaves than she ever was on the track. Congratulations to them.

Her fans succeeded in at least one other thing as well....they made me despise a good horse that I would have otherwise liked to enjoy. Congratulations again.

You must hate 'all' sports teams because (imo) screaming adults dressed in
stupid gear, acting immature is worse than what the z fans did.

It seems like you're missing the point. Football fans buying apparel and tickets to games are supporting the team and the sport as a whole. Zennyatta fans showing up with pretty signs while supporting the horse are doing absolutely nothing for the game as long as they aren't putting money into the pools. So exactly how is this good for the sport that needs gamblers to thrive?

Horse racing apparel sales must be at an all-time high right now.

To keep with the thread title, a great day for racing would be to have Zenyatta booked to Blame, than live stream the breeding shed action via 60 minutes and Oprah, TVG could provide live coverage as well, that way America ( all the fans Zenyatta brought to the sport) could actually say they SAW Zenyatta finish in front of Blame.

OK, it's 2 days later. Does anybody in the world other than those who are already racing fans talk about this at all?

All of this "think of the new fans!" stuff is pure hor$e$hit.
