Nice photos and explanation.

The Wood may have been the worst of all Derby preps this year. War Pass was by far the most impressive to come out of that race. Mott entered a rabbit and still had his hopeless Court Vision beaten by War Pass. I thought War Pass finished very game considering the fractions he set although they were all staggering home. The last few fractions of that race were incredibly slow.

Nothing coming out of that race is a threat to win or even finish top 3 in the Derby.

The Stymie is a good example of insane early tactics. I remember very well changing my video feed over to Aqueduct just in time to catch what looked like a final stretch duel to the finish wire. When they continued on to the turn and I realized what I had just witnessed was the initial quarter mile, I was dumbfounded.
