O'Rourke also announced NYRA will request approval from the New YorkGaming Commission to offer a low takeout Pick 5.
Interim NYRA manager Glenn Kozak reported that Trakus will be installed at Belmont Park and Aqueduct in time for the next meets at both racetracks, and that "Longshots," the simulcast facility at Aqueduct, is scheduled to open Read more on BloodHorse.com: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-raci...#ixzz2VqXIZofN |

![]() A low takeout pk5 and trakus are both very welcome additions! Hope they can get that pk5 up and running by the Spa meet as I will certainly be one to be playing in that pool often.

![]() I hope both come to fruition. The NYRA circuit already has easily the highest quality day-to-day product in the country, but until takeout comes down, it won't be the clear cut best wagering option it should be IMO. Adding Trakus is another move made with serious horseplayers in mind, so that's always appreciated.

![]() The low takeout Pick 5 in CA has become the focal point of my play at those tracks. I really enjoy it and have had some success along the way. One would think the pools for this bet, especially at Saratoga would be quite large.

![]() One would hope when the P5 is installed it is a $1 or $2 base minimum wager, with the pools big on weekends and Saratoga you could have some very serious carryover opportunities.

![]() So they should have a $2 minimum Pick 5 when every other low takeout Pick 5 has a $.50 minimum? The main goal is to attract players like asudevil, not create carryovers.

On another NYRA note...I had the pleasure of travelling across the country and attending Belmont on Saturday with my 11 year old son. We stayed in the city, did the LIRR commute from Penn, etc. From the time we got off the train at the track, the entire process was executed flawlessly by the LIRR people all the way through the facility and on to our seats. The ushers were great, the ticket writers were friendly and helpful, even the security staff was nice. I was very impressed.

![]() a $1 to $2 minimum would just cannibalize the pick 6 pool, I thought the idea was that it would create jackpot type payoffs for players who do not have the types of bankrolls the pick 6 requires.

A 50 cent minimum low takeout pk5 makes a ton of sense for NYRA and will likely be a huge pool which will have very large payouts that most bettors can play in. |

![]() It is refreshing to see that the state Gov't is doing such a great job on the board of NYRA. I mean everybody knows that the most important thing facing the multi-billion dollar business is ensuring that inane bidding rules are followed to a T rather than wasting time making sure that the company that wins is the best suited to do the job. And I have to say that I am very, very ,very, very skeptical that the incoming CEO is going to have even the slightest chance to do his or her job without significant interference from some of the geniuses serving on the board.

![]() Does Churchill broadcast in HD? I didn't think they did. NYRA does, but most outlets do not broadcast it in HD. The TVs on track broadcast in HD and it looks awesome.

![]() I only watch through my Twinspires or DRFBets accounts and Churchill obviously does broadcast in HD on Twinspires, but it is not available on DRFBets. Keeneland broadcasts in HD on Twinspires, I haven't checked it on DRFBets. I've never seen NYRA broadcast in HD anywhere off track, but when carried on NBC.

![]() Yes, HD where available (i.e. on track and at Keeneland simulcast since HRTV is SD)

![]() That's pretty cool, wonder why they don't offer the ability to watch the races in HD on my computer like I do with my other premium sports subscriptions such as MLB, or the replays should be in HD, if one has the bandwidth to watch them they could make that happen if they are set up for HD.

HD is the standard and I would imagine most televisions now in an OTB are flatscreen capable HD televisions, now as long as the signal is coming HD I think this is something that should be easily navigated by the tracks. Again they talk about 750k being wasted, that seems like small change for Twinspires to actually be ahead of the curve and in step with what younger people expect now.
