THE IL Race to Watch
'fogetabout' Cohen, Quinn and whoever the Reps put in once they finish counting ballots seemingly at a rate of 5 per hour.
The race that will surely bring all Illinois has to offer will be for Obama's former senate seat and features Alexi Giannoulias (a good friend of Obama who considers him his political mentor) and Rep Mark Kirk an IL congressman, active naval reserve officer (Commander) and has served in Iraq Haiti and Bosnia. During this past primary his opponent Andy Martin questioned his sexuality and went so far as to say Kirk was part of the Republican Party homosexual club. Meanwhile Giannoulias & family own and run the Broadway Bank in Chicago billed as a neighborhood small business bank who not only held Obama's campaign account but also did business with Tony 'Where are You' Rezko and in fact Rezko wrote $450,000 of bad checks on Broadway accounts for gambling debts. Maybe he dealt with convicted bookmaker Demitri Stavropolis, also a client of the bank and with him sitting in jail for years the bank has begun foreclosure proceedings on his commercial property. Micky Giorango another convicted bookie and mob 'heavy', doing time for running a nationwide prostitution ring out of Miami, was also a client who finanaced his real estate investments thru Broadway. These weren't small clients either as each had loans near the 10 million mark. The bank is currently under Federal oversight and in financial trouble. Rezko knows a bunch but I doubt we hear anything out of him anytime soon. This one will get good and Kirk, fiscally conservative and center to left otherwise, has a great chance. IMO
