![]() Supposedly there are still a few that are thinking of opting off. RD talked the rest out of it. The word is that they are worried about injuries but not sure the correlation between the track surface and the injuries at AP.

![]() I just heard that there was concern as a young jock got severely injured yesterday, but it was on a horse in the last that dropped dead (didn't break down).
The person I talked to said jocks were working horses on the track this am, and they didn't hear jocks or agents talking about refusing to ride this am.

Arlington is very very stressful right now as the polytrack debate is hot right now. I saw two trainers talking (arguing) about the effects of polytrack. One loved it and the other talked about horses being really muscle sore on it. I am not a trainer so I have no idea, Chuck would One trainer went right up to Mr. D and said "Mr. D, the track is like a pillow, it is beautiful" As I heard Mr. D say, what happened to Rene and Mike was because of race riding, the horses did not break down. You can't control clipped heels or a heart attack. |

The concern is primarily what happens to the jock when he lands on this surface versus dirt, grass, etc. The jocks have always said they hate landing on Poly because you just stick to it, but the tragedies involving Rene and Mike are making this a much more critical issue now. |

On sand, I guess you slide a little so the impact is different. As I told a jock agent today, I am 6 foot and 250lbs, I won't be going 35MPH on a horse anytime soon, so those guys can do what they feel is right ![]() |

I think it was more to make a point, but for them to be delayed 30 minutes, there had to be some unification. I know that trainers were not within the meeting, it was just management and jocks, all the trainers were huddled up near where the jocks enter the paddock. |
