Default Welcome to Philly Mr. Lee

sooo freaking happy right now! Cliff Lee, the reigning Cy Young winner with a 3.14 era this year for four second tier prospects. Didnt have to give up Happ, Drebeck, Brown or Taylor.

Such a better trade then giving up our whole farm and most consistent starter this year for a 33 year old Halladay.

Lee is only owed 8 mil next year. (Halladay 15 mil) And I believe we have a much better chance signing him long term then we would have with Halladay.

cleveland gets a AAA pitcher in Carrasco, 6-9 with a 5 era, jason knapp, the supposed centerpiece with is 2-7 in A ball, a catcher hitting .235 when they have santana, and a shortstop jason donald hitting .231 in the Rookie League.

What a great trade for the Phils. Our playoff staff (knock on wood), Cole "Hollywood" Hamels (who I wouldnt trade for ANYONE when the pressure is on), Cliff Lee, J.A. Happ, and Joe Blanton. Oh yeah, we also have a 3 time Cy Young winner who if he gets his rhythm well can help us out.

AND we also got a right handed batter (which we desperately needed) who had 10 homers, 13 steals and a .250 average.. and in the past 7 games has a .417 average with 3 homers, 6 rbi's.

Ruben Amaro you are the man!

Look out Scuds!

Lee isn't great but even if they had to give up Happ or Drabek it was still a steal. To keep all four of them and give up garbage is a heck of a deal.

Lee isnt Halladay but he's an elite pitcher, he's not an ACE but he's a solid #1 on almost any team.. and he won the cy young last year! He battled injuries when he was younger and is only really getting into a groove the past 2 years..

I kinda feel bad for Morty and the other Cleveland fans. but I'm over it already

You already had us. We are gunna start that chokin' Lady Billingsley twice, and we don't hit good pitching(at all.) Maybe 2 guys can do it, and that's not a team. Dodgers should of made this deal, but no. We got to go to the post with mediocre starters, and can't hit good pitching. We are made to play the regular season, and the Cubs in the post. Gales wonders why their isn't a full crowd. Maybe people know it's not a serious playoff team. I told ya they needed to get rid of these chokes. They had value. They still have value. You can't win a ring with chokes being the backbone of your post season pitching staff.

That was Manny Bobblehead Night. They had a full house. They get a good crowd on Friday Nights(Fireworks after the game.) It's a tough town to get around in at 6 at night. We don't have a good rapid transit system. So, most people have to drive. They charge $15 to get a car into the lot. I'm not doing that very much. Some people are putting up with it routinely, but you can't be surprised that many people won't do it as often as you would think they would. These 2 that own the team are out of touch with regular people. O.K.? $15 is acceptable to them, but not to us. Instead of cutting parking price way down, they do stuff like that stupid fake "Bleacher Beach" on Sundays(so pathetic it's unspeakable.) Hardly anybody takes part in that crap. It's an embarassment. They get some chick to sit in a lifeguard's chair n' spray water on people sitting in banks of seats. Somehow that's a fkn beach. I don't get it. They are trying to fill those empty seats on Sunday, but to their surprise that's not the answer. They need to lower prices(a lot,) because watching the Dodgers play Cincy is just not the entertainment that they think it is. Like I said, if we had reliable playoff pitching, then it might be a different story, but nobody expects Billingsley to beat Philly in the post. When you keep a guy like that on the squad, what are you really saying to your fans? " He's a choke, but maybe we'll get lucky somehow?" Uh, no that's not a plan. Gales, they don't have a plan for the post. Just look at Billingsley yesterday. Pitches 5 nice innings, and then can't locate in the 6th inning, and gives up 6 runs. I mean this is the way this turd is. You want to go to the post with that guy? The Phils gunna eat that guy up again. Should trade that woman, because she is not gunna locate properly (under pressure) for us in October.

Holy crap. The Mariners gave up more for Jack Wilson and Ian Snell than the Phillies did for Cliff Lee. Then the Giants had to top them all by giving up far more (Alderson) for Freddie Sanchez. Has the world gone mad? Biggest winners this week is a tossup between the Pirates and the Phillies.

That's cheap..Around Wrigley it's about $40 average and around Sox Park it's $20 a mile from the park and goes up from there.

Soldier Field...Over $100 per game for parking in prime tailgating lot

You've got other good ways to get to the game though. We just have a slow n' clumsy bus system. There's plenty of parking all around Dodger Stadium. Anyways, Gales, that's a big reason. If you think it's pleasant to watch Billy Jean/Brox choke away games, you're wrong. They are certainly not a draw. People like to watch competition, and those two offer very little in that area.
Talent alone(without the drive or guts of a winner) is not that great to watch. It's often actually a downer. You shouldn't have to beg these people to compete. Seriously, I'd rather watch E. Velez claw his way back than watch that fkn Broxton ever pitch again. There would be nothing make me more happy than to hear that he was traded. I am really tired of having a guy this talented not have the balls to use the talent God gave him. They would really have to be simply idiots to think this guy can close out World Series games. He's mentally unable to do that.

While the Phillies surely made a good trade without giving up their best prospects they certainly gave up far more than the Mariners did. Ronny Cedeno who is average at best and not getting better, a positionless Clement and three arms that are a long way away and not very highly rated isnt close to Carrasco, Donald and Marson and Knapp is a 19 year old power pitcher who may be the best player ultimately. Donald and Marson were blocked or not the Phils top options but that doesnt mean they arent still good prospects. Carrasco was a 5 star prospect going into this year and while hehas been erratic his upside is still huge. Certainly the Indians didn't get a current 5 star prospect which considering Lee's favorable contract is a surprise but they got 4 guys who should be major league players of some ability. The Pirates simply got a cheap replacement for Wilson and organizational depth.

The Alderson trade could be a huge mistake for SF. Sanchez is what he is and that isnt that great. Alderson could be a star. Sabean does some unusual things...

Absolutely. Carrasco still has the potential to be a #1 starter. Knapp is intriguing. Marson will be nothing more than a backup because of Santana. Donald will just be an average MI.

Sanchez may be good to get on base, but that offense is not much better and they gave up a really good pitcher for him
