![]() You can't bet on the biggest longshot at Belmont Park — not yet, anyway.
The finish line is still far off, but for a tiny Indian tribe eking out a living in the heart of one the world's richest communities, Long Island's famed racetrack could be the place where their fortunes change. As the thoroughbred racing world turns its attention to Saturday's 141st Belmont Stakes, members of the Shinnecock Indian tribe have said in recent days they are willing to consider Belmont Park as the location for the casino they want to open. http://www.google.com/hostednews/ap/...-8fkAD98JJR580 |

![]() Hurry, check your heritage, if this is like the Pequots up in Conn. then 1% Shiinecock blood qualifies you as "indian" and you can be part of the "tribe."
Edit: as I've suggested before, and Philski agrees, some NY thoroughbred races need to be televised live by the Quick Draw network faeturing plays exclusive to the Quick Draw channel . Such as pick the exact order of finish . Harness can be mingled by the network at night . In this manner money still goes to education , handle would be increase for the tracks and Quick Draw, and purses and breeder awards would benefit too . These racinos are going nowhere it seems, after 8 years of nothing at Aqueduct . Now Belmont ?
