Speaking of whining...slap me if I ever make a betting judgement on the basis of a morning workout, again:

11. Tonalist: Impressive winner in the local prep for this race. I was committed to selecting this horse to win, until he turned in an extremely unimpressive final workout and drew the extreme outside post position.


Selections:

1st: Wicked Strong
2nd: Tonalist
3rd: California Chrome

A great pitfall handicappers have to overcome, in this area, is that they have no video of the other in-company works that said horse has had.

Obviously, Life In Shambles is no stellar work horse, or he wouldn't have debuted for a tag...yet he obviously got the better of Tonalist in their final workout.

Seeing Tonalist's final work was a huge psych-out for me...and I've been a sulky bitch about it ever since the race finished.
