Anyone doing figures for the 9f races today is in for a treat. 11 points for the Remsen over the Demoiselle is sure to draw some comments from the Beyer haters, but having to do them myself I know what a nightmare the routes on the card are. #pace

Not a Beyer hater, but as we have discussed before (i.e., Gio Ponti win in 2010 Man 'o War), when figures like this are given in extremely slow paced races, the figure becomes more a performance rating than a speed figure.

No doubt. The races today are a nightmare. I like to keep the figures as clean as possible, but not sure what point there would be giving the Remsen a 60 either.

I suspect at some point I will move to sliding scales for the value of time and beaten lengths. For example, losing by 5 lengths at 9f in a very slow paced race will count much more than losing by the same distance in a normal paced race. But you still have to give the winner a figure, and that is always going to be tough in these spots.

This is a great idea.

I'm full of them, just ask me.

Seriously though, if a length counts more at shorter distances, why not? The crawl fests essentially shorten the races anyway.

Not a fan of the trainer, but this one looks like a serious runner.
