Default What would you do with Wise Dan and Successful Dan over the next couple months?

I probably go Woodford with Wise and Foster with Successful.

Will that happen? No chance.

I badly want Wise Dan in the Woodford.

LoPresti said the Grade 1 Stephen Foster at Churchill Downs on June 15 would be considered for Successful Dan’s next race, but a race there would be contingent on what racing plans are drawn up for Wise Dan, who ran second in the Foster last year after winning the Ben Ali. Lopresti trains both horses for Fink.
Looks like one of them is going to the Foster, I bought seats already thinking Wise Dan was. I hope Wise Dan goes and I'd send Successful Dan to the Met Mile next month.

Then in August bring them both to Arlington, one in the St Leger and one in the Million

Wise Dan and Point of Entry won't see each other once this year.

Do you agree that they are ducking POE a little? I know he's useful on dirt, but I believe Dan is much better on turf. Woodford makes a lot of sense. Especially now, you could run the other Dan in the Clark.

Me too -- let's hope that they decide to enter both!

Don't know if they are actually ducking each other as much as it is just so easy to map out a schedule these days(the days of 4-6 race campaigns and "fresheners" in the middle ofdracing season) and not face anyone worth a darn until the BC.

i'd carefully space SD's races out because of his soft tissue problems, and keep him on as kind a surface as possible.
wise dan, i'd run him in the big races that sd wouldn't make. they could conceivably take a lot of the biggest races in this country because they're so versatile. what a fun position it would be to have those two in your stable.

no. i think the dans like things a bit shorter while point of entry seems to relish the 1 1/2 mile or thereabout on turf.

and you're being vague-which dan is better on turf and which would go in the clark?

How is Wise Dan ducking Point of Entry? They are completely two different horses.

I think if hes OK you run Successful Dan in the Clark. Wise Dan ran huge races at 8f on the grass last year, and I believe his Saratoga turf win was at 9f. Point of Entry is a stayer, but they experimented going 9f and he passed that with a huge win over Animal Kingdom. Article on drf right now says Wise Dan is possible for the Woodford. That would be a dream come true for me. Back to Successful I know he has some issues, but it appears that he came out of yesterdays race OK.

IMO the Woodford is a perfect spot for him after his 8f comeback. If anything you catch POE at a distance that is a little short of his best. Last year, Wise Dans Foster was the worst race he ran all year. I know he was just beat and the pace was hot. I do think its clear he is a better turf horse though.
