Dominguez transfers hospitals, 'doing really well and resting comfortably'

Quote:
Ramon Dominguez, who was diagnosed with a skull fracture as a result of a spill on Friday at Aqueduct Racetrack, continues to improve and was transferred today (January 22) from Jamaica Hospital in Queens to New York-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center on Manhattan’s East Side where he is currently undergoing further evaluation.

They said he was still in the ICU before he switched hospitals. They said they are switching hospitals because they want to get a second opinion.

Dominguez was taken to Jamaica Medical Center, where a slightly displaced skull fracture was diagnosed. He was in critical condition the first 48 hours because of bleeding in the brain. He was upgraded to stable condition over the weekend.

Dominguez was transferred Tuesday to NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital/Weill Cornell Medical Center in Manhattan.

“Ramon is doing really well and resting comfortably,” his wife, Sharon, said Tuesday, according to a New York Racing Association news release. Doctors have prohibited him from having visitors.

Sharon Dominguez said there was no timetable for when her husband could be out of the hospital. According to the few people who have seen him, doctors were apparently keeping him sedated to make sure he remained as calm as possible and to prevent complications. Dominguez also badly bruised his right eye in the spill. Convocation, his mount, was unharmed.
