I completely disagree that Ron Paul was a "terrible candidate"

In fact, Ron Paul is head and shoulders more qualified, and understands the constitution better than the two fools we have on top of the ballots.

When you are unable discuss the facts, always best to fall back on throwing personal insults against those that don't think like you. It's all the current Republican party, from Romney to Reince, seems to have.

Obama hasn't "ruined our standing in the rest of the world" in the least - that's such blatantly false nonsense. We are once again far more respected across the world, internationally, than we ever were during the Bush years.

yeah, he wasn't terrible. he just had no shot in hell at getting the nomination for the republican party.

He could have pulled at least 1/5 to 1/4 (if not more) of the votes at the convention this time around, and that's why the Republican party cheated and killed his candidacy.

I wish many of you guys were young enough to really remember the country and the world for the 15 years before W. Bush destroyed much of it. Some of you guys have no idea how much long-term, permanent destruction those 8 W years have wrought upon this country and the world. Nixon didn't destroy this country and world as much as Bush did - Nixon at least kept his disaster within the countries borders.

Ron Paul would be a terrible candidate because he is absolutely unelectable. In 1912 he could get elected. In 2012 he would have no chance.

Why so you say this other then the obvious that he couldn t even get the republican nod vs Romney.

because he's an isolationist, which the majority of this country isnt supportive of, even if its the best thing we can do as a country.

he's fairly extreme when it comes to conservatism, eventhough I believe he is extremely correct.. and it seems like republicans only want extreme if you are extremely religious and anti-gay.

people arent ready to give up their crutch, their government... we as a country have become WAY to dependant on government... people arent ready for a truely small federal government and more states rights.

Personally, I'm ready to correct this bloated, nasty thing we call Washington... and get it mostly out of my life.

it's really too bad we got away from being isolationist. we stayed out of both world wars until we pretty much got our hand forced in the second one...even after the sinking of the lusitania, killing american civies, we still didn't enter ww1 til the zimmerman note.
and then of course we just had to fight communism. sheesh. now, in gulf one, we did it correctly. game hussein plenty of time to get out, got the world together on it, and crushed him quickly and decisively and got kuwait taken care of. one of our few recent foreign policy issues we got perfect. that's probably the only armed conflict since ww2 that we got right.

At least Ron Paul was consistent and open in his beliefs across his career, and was a painfully honest libertarian (strange as he carried a few beliefs that are opposite to his Hippocratic oath and his actual actions as a doctor).

His son Rand, who Paul wants to inherit his base, is a shape-shifter, and quite unlikeable and angry. A dangerous man I want nowhere near power. I never had that fear about Ron Paul.
