He did have a debut winner at 16/1 at Del Mar in 2008. He was 12-for-63 (19% wins) and $2.83 ROI with all first-time starters in the year 2007 when he had a much larger stable to work with. He's one of those guys who has had a reputation solely as a claiming trainer since moving to So. Cal -- and those type of guys often don't get the stock to win on debut unless they jam them into bottom level MCL's on debut. |
