You can't compare football to the other sports.

It is a entirely different game than pretty much any other NCAA sport... besides rugby.

a 16 team playoff would be detrimental to the health of the football players. These kids are 18 - 22 years old. I think the only way the NCAA could pull it off would be to cut back on regular season games if they want a 16 team playoff.

Its the same reason the NFL players are against an 18 game schedule.

1AA has been a 16 team playoff for a long time and D2 & D3 have been 16 plus for several years. the other divisions do it D1 should too! the conference championships are the first week in Dec. you just keep playing. higher seed gets a home game, rotate the championship game between the 4 or 5 old bowl games. championship game is NY's Day like it used to be and stop dragging it out to the first or second week in Jan.
