This country is gone. Life will go on, it will suck more...but America is over. People take life for granted. They aren't thirsty for knowledge. Fat, dumb and happy. The only way they will wake up is when it is far too late.

It's the "Boiled Frog" phenomenon - the lower-middle class gets lulled into a state of "sated-poor" ... They have been fed the story of the "American Way" where you work hard, pay your way, and are rewarded with retirement at the end.... Things could be better, but no real complaints because even though they are broke, they've got a house and a way to make ends meet, and oh by the way a mountain of credit cards debt that they'll die with.

Any real change would require them to look at the dynamics of what has propelled them into this mess and make drastic changes in their behavior - which will never happen because it's much easier to sit back, bitch about everything yet do nothing to change it... meanwhile the heat continues to get cranked up - making due with less and less, everything from fuel to groceries tripling in price in 2 decades and now need to run up more credit just to get by... Until the pot is boiling and they're cooked.

All manipulated by banks and corporate ownership of the Legislative body

But I digress

People won't demand change in their government because they have no leverage anymore - they are, by and large, in debt up to the eyes and have grown accustomed to the fact that both side are the same, so voting one side out to vote the other side in is a joke... Unfortunately just 10% of the registered republican voters saw the one real candidate that had a chance to shake up establishment - so whatevah... sheep will be sheep....

Can't wait for these as.sholes to get culled.

I know Springsteens home, the property is as big as most towns. When I go to NJ he lets us hunt on his land.

pakistan has never been much of an ally. perhaps now they're starting to think they may need us more than we need them? but who knows for sure what they're thinking?? they are a jekyll/hyde nation. they are trying to play both sides of the game-and we all know what happens when you try to please everyone. you end up pleasing no one.

but i have to say, i would NEVER agree to another country carrying out drone strikes in my country! in that respect, i can understand their wanting that to end. the us certainly wouldn't allow such a thing here by others. but, they hold out the to entice pakistan...trick is tho that pakistan tries to take the money and still pretend to their us-hating citizens as tho they're no friend to us, that they just want our money.

i can see us being more friendly to India being the ultimate carrot tho. they surely don't want india emboldened by having better relations with us. i think that's what they should do.
we must start treating other nations on what's best for us and our interests. pakistan isn't that good of an ally, so they shouldn't get a ton of cash...look what it got us when afganistan was our number 1 recipient of foreign aid.
