Really? Old fashioned thinking? I know I sure as **** would not be living with a man who choked his wife and beat the crap out of her 12 months prior, what the hell is myopic about that thinking? I call it self preservation.

I don't find her any less of a victim because you assume she knows that he was charged with beating his wife in the past.

I don't consider her less a victim because she chose to live with a woman beater, I feel very sorry for her, I still think she made a stupid choice in light of the fact she no doubt knows his history. |

If this is all true, I hope he gets blacklisted from racing. At least P-Val had some talent worth taking a gamble on. Albarado is a jerk and a bad rider (obviously his crime is way worse too).

Jockey Robby Albarado was arrested Friday and charged with accosting a woman who says she was breaking up with him, resulting in the veteran rider losing his spot in the Kentucky Oaks later in the day.
Albarado was accused of throwing the woman to the floor of a residence on Tuesday, according to the arrest warrant. The woman, who had lived with Albarado, suffered a separated shoulder and bruises to her legs, an arm and shoulder, the report said. anyway..maybe she didn't know his past, or gave him benefit of the doubt....regardless, she was trying to end it and this is what happened. it's a shame when a guy gets a restraining order against him that it doesn't apply to all women!!!

I promised my girlfriend I'd drive her absolutely nuts in just a few months. She told me that wouldn't happen and said "if you become a beater or cheater, it's over! Beating and cheating are my only two deal-breakers."
Luckily, she said nothing about eating. I've put on about 20 pounds in the last five months. Oh, and yeah, not swallowing is my only deal-breaker. Robby AL, on top of being piece of crap person -- has been a very over-rated jockey for several years now. Fairgrounds has had more gold-rail days than any other dirt track over the last few years...and the vintage Robby AL move is to take a short-price horse with a big pace advantage -- and instead of letting the horse use it's pace advantage and get to the gold rail so it can gallop to a wire-to-wire win... you get Robby AL rating the horse into submission and keeping him 4-wide the whole time because his pea-brain thinks the horse will relax better. If Robby Albarado has a loose-speed on a gold rail track...you can almost be assured of a truly pathetic and incompetent ride. |

* Two recent arrests for domestic violence. * In the past 12 months, he's had 924 mounts and his ROI has been $1.29 on a $2 bet... that's a 35.5% loss on the betting dollar, more than double the win takeout anywhere, and 924 races isn't a small sample size. He's ridden 493 dirt races in the last year and his ROI is $1.08 -- a 46% loss on every dollar bet. That kind of thing should hurt his reputation with trainers...but it probably won't. |

Should be permanently. I agree with Doug, he is a tremendously overrated rider.

Intelligence has absolutely nothing to do with it. It's not about someone getting it through their head that 'hey you shouldn't be with that guy, he hits women.' These situations often happen because of self esteem issues, not the victim being devoid of logic or lacking information. Many incredibly bright women have started relationships they shouldn't have. They've been beaten nearly to death and gone back to their abusers.Takes a lot for many people to get rid of the idea that they deserve what's happening to them when they get hit by a partner. I don't want to assume what's going on with this particular woman, but as for why she started the relationship, it could've well been because Robby swore his wife was lying to cause trouble.

I don't get 99% of women. A lot of times the attractive ones are especially messed up.
Going up and being nice, good-natured, and saying flattering things is absolute death with attractive women. Drilling them with a snow-ball before you've ever met them -- or greeting them with a subtle put-down or two is the stuff that can work. That gender makes absolutely no-sense to me. Maybe the PAP Sheets guy with the messed up hair, dark circles under his eye, 1980's tv, and punched in wall really does have them figured out and is a legit pick-up artist guru like he claims in his book. |

For some reason, the guy with the snow ball is believed to be a better catch than the good natured guy that pulls out a chair for you. Here's my theory: This dates back to the days when we lived in caves and grunted at each other. Women are somehow programed to think that the guy with the snow ball is going to be a better hunter and provider, (and more fun) than the guy who is good natured that pulls out a chair for you. It's as simple as that. Regarding the case being discussed = Women with low self-esteem tend to 'settle'. Deep down they figure they are where they should be or belong. Females have to have respect for themselves to envision themselves with the guy that throws the snowball, brings home the fresh kill, protects them, makes strong healthy babies, and makes them happy, and never abuses them. |
