Thanks, 3k. They put up some "highest show payout" figs for the 7 of us, but they've screwed up somehow. My fig is wrong and probably all the figs are wrong. They'll probably get it straightened out tomorrow.

I understand the value of high odds horses...it's how you beat the real game. However, in a contest where all you need to be is in the money and at a track where 5 horse fields are commonplace, getting a longshot to hang on or clunk up for third is luck not pre-designed accomplishment.

IK, I don't have any problem with the tiebreaker. What else could they use? As long as it was clearly in the rules, which it was, we all had a chance to consider it when making our picks. The only thing that comes quickly to mind that would maybe make more sense would be to use the total of all show payoffs as the tiebreaker.
If they keep the current tiebreaker for the next contest, it would probably make sense to take some early risks to try to nail a bigger payoff.
