Nice ride by Javy.
I think Duke of Mischief made that exact same move last year and was able to get away. Only good enough for second this time.

Shockingly, Leparoux botched the ride on Mister Marti Gras.

Somehow he found his way with Flashy Dresser -- what a thrilling race to see live.

The multiple laps around the track had to have thrown him off. Of course, he regularly falls asleep on horseback.

Flashy Dresser is a nice horse to have recovered after being steadied on the turn, but the leader at the 3/16th pole blowing the turn certainly helped.

What was going on with the call in the nightcap? Collmus just having fun with it?

He was paying respect to the late GREAT Costy Caras, former track announcer for 30 years. He passed in 2006.

Retired track announcer Constantine L. "Costy" Caras, who learned his profession from the great New York announcer Fred "Cappy" Capossela, died Jan. 7 at a Charles Town, W.Va., health care center. He was 81.

As a kid, I grew up to the nasaly voice of Costy Caras at Charles Town for which I remember was adding the semi-word "ah" before basically every word. "Ah number 5, Ah, two pounds, ah overweight." Since he was my first, I'll always have a fond spot for him.

Racing fans at Charles Town will remember his signature " Eat ease now-ah, ah-poost-time. " and other patented phrases "rrranging up alongside", and the finish to the nightcap was a perfect setup for "AH-COMING ON !" as no one else ever pronounced.

Collmus is no Mirahmadi but I thought it was a nice gesture.
