American politics have been anything but civil in the past. You're wrong yet again.

The audience rudeness at televised political debates is a very recent thing. Most adults used to know that if they were invited to sit in the audience to watch a political debate live, it wasn't about them.

ain't that the truth! it cracks me up when people bemoan the lack of civility today, and talk of 'the good old days'. what, like back when the v.p. shot the former secretary of the treasury in a duel? or when the guy took a fellow senators cane and thrashed him with it? anyone ever take a gander at the political cartoons back when honest abe was in the running for president, and after he was elected? WOW. they were unbelievable.

The same piece of machinery that shows people competing for a husband and also swapping spouses is supposed to automatically induce civility in a political debate? Just admit you're wrong, psycho.

Newt was using the Southern Strategy in South Carolina. Just like Palin. Just like Nixon. Just like Reagan. Just like Atwater. It doesn't work without lemming-like crowd frenzy feeding off itself.

The most "civil" are the ones you have to keep an eye on. They are usually the rulemakers. Phonies. You are extremely civil which basically means passive-aggressive dis-informer

![]() Getting back to Newt ... Florida isn't filled with the blind anger and hate of the 99% white people Tea Party demographic that just voted in the GOP primary of South Carolina - which is all he won. He'll have to do something else to try and get the voters there. Different audience. He was smart the way he won South Carolina, but now he's in Florida.
