Great article in todays NYT on Phil Jacksons love affair with New York. It is only a matter of time and would be fitting bookends for him.

I can't see Jackson taking the job with the Knicks as the team is presently constructed. One thing Jackson did very well was choose to take jobs where he knew he would be successful. This team doesn't have a MJ and Pippen or Kobe and Shaq. It has a very bad owner. It has no draft picks and a small amount of cap space. And it has a guy who is a ball stopper as the primary focus of the offense. It has a max contract guy with bad knees who isn't moving very well. It has no point guard, no back up point guard, no depth, no defensive stopper, no scoring off the bench. The cap situation is shaky and with Chicago and Miami both looking considerably better than NY I just don't think Phil's gonna jump into a situation for this first time in his career.

You 100% correct in every point you made. Having said that I think Phll is at a point where he is 100% comfortable that his legacy is secure. I feel he has strong feelings for the Knicks and former coach Holzman. I think at this point his memories of New York strong enough for him to accept a challange to go full circle. Just my opinion.
