![]() This article has to be tounge in cheek. No way does anyone who has been around the game for more than 10 racing days believe this trainer is legitimate.
It really is sad that scumbags like this trainer are allowed to completely fleece the other trainers and public on a daily basis and are brazen enough to act like they are just better than everyone else. I could care less overall but just once in my life I would love to see the FBI come down on someone like this. I can't think of someone more deserving of prison. Sadly, I just don't think this crap hits the radar screen of those that can put bite into this issue. These trainers will be allowed to work their "ice magic" daily at the expense of other less fortunate or honest horseman. |

![]() After reading this again I have a hard time saying this article was written tongue in cheek. Please show me a single line that could be construed as such?

Do you know Dick Jerardi, Chuck? Seriously - half of everything he says is tongue-in-cheek. This line above would be from someone who knows NOTHING about racing, writing about it. Jerardi knows how foolish this sounds when he writes it. "This being the race track, there are more than a few theories." " 'There is no miracle drug,' Guerrero assured. 'They test too much.' Whatever it is, Carlos Guerrero has figured it out. It is definitely his time." Here's the bottom line - this (seems to me to be) an article to get all the public comment out there on Guerrero. Let the insinuations be what they are, and then get all Guerrero's comments on the record...and we'll see what happens in the future. |

![]() I've read Jerardi for years and generally think he's pretty sharp but this is an odd piece. Remember, he may be a tongue in cheek kind of guy to those who know him but he's writing this article not for "insiders" but for the general sports fan in a major newspaper.
It seems odd that he'd put him name on this if it were tongue in cheek, knowing that the huge bulk of his readership (including loyal racing fans and bettors) DON'T know that he's "that type." If I read Indian Charlie, I know what I'm getting but from Jerardi I expect straight dope.

![]() Jerardi cast a vote for Guerrero in last years Eclipse award voting.
So said the spreadsheet someone posted of turf writers and who they voted for. |

![]() A member of DT just completed a cursory examination of Guerreros barn a few minutes ago and was unable to locate the vaunted ice machine. I guess the machine that bears the magical ice is in a secret location?

![]() Isnt Jerardi on the Parx payroll? He used to do that weekly show with Keith Jones recapping past weeks races and touting upcoming events.
Think I will have to flood the Daily News Live message box next time hes on. |

![]() I believe he still does that show, and that show is a product of the Pennsylvania Thoroughbred Horsemen's Assoc., not Parx itself.

![]() Damn, Jerardi is right. Guerrero is so smart he has even been able to make the magic ice machine invisible.

![]() Juan Carlos Guerrero, leading trainer at Parx Racing, performed an act of heroism July 18 when he pulled eight people from an overturned minivan on busy Interstate 95 near the Benjamin Franklin Bridge in Philadelphia. Guerrero, who sits atop the Parx trainer standings with 88 wins, 38 more than nearest rival Phil Aristone, was driving to the Bensalem Township, Pa., racetrack at about 6:45 a.m. EDT from his home in New Jersey when he saw the minivan swerve to avoid another car, flip over, and careen into the guardrail, coming to rest on its roof. Though traffic slowed, nobody was pulling over to help. Read more: http://www.bloodhorse.com/horse-racing/articles/64130/parx-trainer-helps-rescue-accident-victims |

Interesting that he was 25 minutes away from the track at 6:45 considering he clocks everyone's horses every day? Maybe he has secret camera's hidden in the secret ice machine? He could have at least offered the victims a magical ice bath to heal their injuries. |
