Blame was penalized for losing to Haynesfield. Too bad he didn't have some SoCal allowance fillies to practice against that day.

Exactly. Based on their head-to-head record there's a lot of doubt who was the better of the two.

Does it really matter who you beat? Or is how you do it more important? Last year beating Macho Uno and Bullsbay sealed the deal so I don't buy the former. Blame squeaked out wins over Battle Plan, Quality Road and Zenyatta in what most will call a conservative campaign. Surely that didn't enhance his credentials, as I stated I thought he did enough with his win in the Classic, but again he wasn't the best by a landslide, not by a longshot.

Ugh. So now we're putting "squeaked out wins over Battle Plan, Quality Road, and Zenyatta" behind wins over Dance to My Tune, Switch, and Rinterval because she had her ears pricked?

I'm not even going to address your comments about 2009 that dead horse has been beaten beyond recognition.

I wasn't attempting to rehash last year's subject, however I do think people look at other factors...style, popularity, when the gap between 2 horses is a small one. Given Blame did just enough to be HOY last year, I don't see the travesty as others feel it was. Regardless who the horse that beat him is.

What's wrong with squeaking out wins over Battle Plan and Quality Road? Those aren't exactly claimers.

This is when you should stop talking about HOY and go play with Barbies.

Blame is far from an all time great horse, and the campaign was conservative by most standards (not Zenyatta's). What if he had taken a softer spot and not caught a stakes speed horse who got loose that day? If he had won the other races he did and beaten a soft 4 horse G3 field that day to be undefeated, who would be HOY? Probably still Zenyatta, but that shows how screwed up the vote is anyway.

For sure he could have done more last year, and that would have made the decision an easy one.

Again I felt he should have won HOY with his win in the classic, it would have been just punishment for Sheriff's and Moss's putting all their eggs into one basket approach. Saying that, I am not going to be rushing out singing the praises of Blame's campaign and races last year either.
