How about Jerry Hollendorfer? In an era where other leading trainers don't run their horses, his handling of Blind Luck's throwback campaign was an anomoly among current training trends. Add in the fact that he had a Breeders' Cup winner (Dakota Phone) and trained Tuscan Evening, arguably the top (or certainly no worse than second) North American-based turf female prior to her untimely death from his type of stable is pretty good stuff.

Pletcher's handling of Eskendereya and the Life At Ten fiasco would be disqualifying in my book.

I would be all for it. Currently, voting by leading money winner or win percentage is pretty much awarding part of the problem of current training methods, campaigning of horses and "super stables."
