Do you get government VA healthcare as a result of your military service? A government pension?

(and if you do, I think you deserve every penny, and more, for serving our country)

What would you say to giving up, say, half of those benefits? Because we're broke.

I think there certainly are "worthless unemployed not looking for a job but rather for a handout", but they are not much more than the usual small baseline minority present even in a thriving economy.

We could shoot them in the street, if only we could identify them. Maybe you could come up with a way? I mean, other than what the programs do now to try and identify them?

Do you value the service of military troops equal to Fed court security guards (aka Marshalls)?

I dont use the VA healthcare. I would rather let a person who got discharged because of something happening to them in Iraq use the VA healthcare. Yes I do get a pension. We are in agreement that I earned it. The government could take away the VA healthcare and it won't hurt me. It has been over two years since the last time I went to the VA.

And your comment is a textbook example of someone who resents anyone wanting to keep what they earned.

I just don't understand why the super super rich (wall street execs and their ilk) NEED tax breaks (it's been proven time and again that the trickle down bullshit doesn't work), thereby plunging us FAR deeper into debt when we can't provide healthcare to the people who DUG BODIES OUT OF THE RUBBLE OF THE WTC, because it costs too much?! WTF IS THAT ABOUT?? It's simply disgusting.

It's war on poor people and it's gonna be SO much worse. Class warfare is coming to a city near you. Cut taxes on rich people and raise food and gas prices on people that can't afford it. Just wait. See what happens.

The people you speak of are union NY city workers who all have what Obama refers to as 'Cadilac Health Insurance Policies". In fact they would be taxed under the new health plan. BTW the 9/11 Rescue Workers plan passed to the tune of $6.2 billion.

No, many are not NY city workers, there are workers from nearly every state. No, this has nothing at all to do with their own health policies. No, they would not "be taxed" under the Patient Protection and Affordable Care Act

No, the 9/11 Rescue Workers plan that passed wasn't 6.2 billion, it was lowered to 4.1 billion to pass.

Geeshus, Dell, pick up a dog-damn newspaper once a week.

Oh, because anybody that feels that way doesn't earn anything. What an a-hole comment.

You're the one talking out of your dupa.

You keep what you earn. What's so hard to understand about that?!~

Well, seeing as how I'm the one paying for your Medicare, lady, you're actually suckling off my metaphorical teat.

OMFG, that image just made me throw up in my own mouth. And I have no one to blame for it but myself.

You're paying for my Medicare? Jeez - talk about ignorance. Anyone who has a job is paying for Medicare, and we put into it the same as everyone else because we didn't have a choice. And we pay into it now, as well. It's called mandatory insurance. And, you'll be looking for yours if/when the time comes for you "suckle off someone else's teat".

And, trust me when I say I wouldn't suck off anything of yours.

HAPPY NEW YEAR, everyone. We had such civil discourse yesterday on this topic. HOPE it can continue. I'm going for HOPE instead of CHANGE - unless it's that baby's diaper.
