That race, was actually the highest Beyer Tiznow ever ran in his career. He got a 119 in there. He got a 116 when he won the BC Classic at 9/1 over Giant's Causeway next time out. A 117 when he won the Santa Anita Handicap by 5 lengths at age 4. And a 117 when he repeated in the BC Classic at Belmont the following year. Captain Steve really stretched him every yard of the way in there. |

![]() Look at the surrounding races in Captain Steve's form ... and you'll see the Classic wasn't a good race for him speed figure wise. Certainly, he ran a super race in the Classic that year .. but the pace did hinder him enough. |
