That depends on how much money you already have. The mega wealthy could find better investments for their money than buying racing prospects. They accept the risk of losing money in exchange for the chance of taking home some significant trophies, including for HOY.

I agree with you about that. Most of these big owners don't need the money. But I was curious if HOY is really important to Dahoss since he was needling SO about it. I doubt HOY is actually that big of a deal to Dahoss. He's acting like winning HOY is such a big deal but I doubt it is even a big deal to him.

Yeah, because they really need the money. The HOY was very important to them as was the now blemished record. Me personally, I wouldn't care. But I also would have run her in more ambitious spots.

When you deal with these owners who have zillions of dollars the only thing that matters is winning. These people play to win, and fullfill their egos. We are very lucky they brought her back and risked an unblemished record for her 6 year old season. We are all very lucky to have witnessed greatness, even in defeat and the owners of Zenyatta should be given a large round of applause for running her through the season, and into the classic. You just don't get to see horses stick around like her. We are all very fortunate and the sport is better because of it. Win, lose, or draw, she was great even in defeat.
