Blame will get it and I love Claiborne Farms as they have been a staple in the industry for 100 years. That said, I still think it sucks azz that Z will be denied the award again.
You're right, Rachel shouldn't have won the 2009 HOY because of how mediocre she was going to be in 2010. Makes perfect sense. Get mad at Zenyatta's connections, not at Blame. Had they treated her like the champion they said she was, she likely would've been one this year.

To the haters he barely beat a mediocre horse and the rest of the field had to be horrible to finish that far behind her.
Once again, you're confusing most talented horse with HOY. Blame's accomplishments this year dwarf Zenyatta's even if his Classic winning margin doesn't. It's not even debatable.

She will be talked about for generations. Blame will only be known for beating her. But the fact of the matter based on what he achieved this year and the fact that he crossed this line in front of her in their only meeting Blame will win HOY. I wish she'd won. More so for us fans than anything else. She didn't. But on a positive note. No horse was hurt. The race was fairly run. Zenny's reputation was actually enhanced by her performance. I felt more proud of her in defeat than any of her wins. The greatest female horse of all time ran the BEST RACE of her career and was defeated fair and square. I choose to rejoice in what happened today. Great theatre. Great horses. Great day. Oh BTW I'll never forgive that damm BLAME
Serious question: What makes her the greatest female horse of all time? I'm not being a 'hater', I honestly don't understand how this is the conclusion drawn from her career. Is she in the conversation? Sure. But there have been a ton of great females and I find it hard to believe that they couldn't have been as successful as her with her campaigns.

I also disagree with the notion that her reputation was enhanced in the loss. Her reputation had become that of one of the greatest horses of all time. It was a ridiculous reputation and unfair to her. How can that kind of reputation be enhanced by her losing to one of the slowest Classic winners in the history of the race?

Well, we already know how dummies like Joe Drape and Jay Hovdey are voting, so I'd say Zenyatta is still going to get HOTY for beating Switch and Rinterval a few times. Whether she deserves it for her 2010 campaign or not is an entirely different conversation.

There really is no conversation. It's a travesty if she wins it.

I doubt that Drape and Hovdey voted for RA last year.

Does Drape have time to vote, what with his detective work on the drugs and awfulness that become super important before all the major racing events?
