That's the thing, it wasn't called offsides after all. In fact, per Donovan, nobody knows what the call was. Grant Wahl at SI says it was Edu, but that can't be the case since Edu literally didn't touch a soul in route to scoring the goal.

There's a replay on yahoo.com's front page that shows the play from seventeen different angles, and the linesman's flag never goes up, so the linesman had nothing to do with the play. The angle from behind the play that shows the ref shows he's blowing his whistle before Edu even touches the ball. I think FIFA should definitely be opening an invesigation of this - this is way more egregious than the Ireland-France Henry handball incident.

From The Sun:

"Substitute Maurice Edu bundled the ball home from a free-kick — but referee Koman Coulibaly ruled the goal out for pushing when it seemed Slovenian defenders were the only players doing the shoving."

no it isnt

while i agree that it was a ridiculous decision, there are tons of players pushing and shoving each other on every set piece and the ref just has to see one to blow up.. as coach said, win and youre through -that shouldnt be hard

espn played the USA game on the radio. that had to be the worst radio i've ever heard. soccer sucks enough but that constant buzzing in the background even made the pregame unlistenable.
