Though that Rolex coverage- oh boy. There was a terrible fall during the cross-country portion, and I was glued to the TV, desperately waiting for an update. Then, on a hunch, I googled and realized the damn event happened three weeks ago and everyone came out of it okay.
Thanks for the heads up. I can watch without getting quite so anxious when it happens. Not that it's no big deal, but knowing it's okay let's you watch some things (like a Grand National on tape with horses falling everywhere) you otherwise might avoid. I went years before I tried to watch Ruffian's or Go For Wand's tragic final races. Haven't been able to go back to Pine Island's breakdown or the freak accident before Exogenous' Distaff, but I saw them on tv and have them recorded somewhere.

Happy to save you the anxiety. It looks awful (and, of course, they show a replay), but they interview the rider at the stadium jumping part (which, understandably, he did not ride in) and he praises the safety air vests a lot of the riders now use.

Did they ever show the Dixie? I see post time was supposed to be 5:12 ET and over 20 minutes later and I still haven't seen it.

I learned to ride saddleseat before huntseat. It's where horses do this: http://www.gaitedhorses.net/Articles...saddleseat.JPG And in a lot of cases, there's just not gonna be a helmet. When I started off, I didn't worry about it because you're on the bulletproof lesson horses that think of trotting for very long as a ridiculous notion. Once I got on horses that were more likely to spook, I insisted on a helmet. Probably should've had one the whole time, but like I said, it's not common or at least not that I saw.

They're showing that footage of Super Saver's brother right now. WinStar extended the contest to the 18th because of demand they said, I hope it's not because the ones before weren't what they had in mind. I want to be victorious. I gather you can only submit one, so maybe I would've thought about it more.

That's a neat photo- I like watching saddleseat. My first throw was headfirst into a wall, but the lesson place required helmets so I was okay. I'll never get on one without a helmet, though.

What did you submit for the name? Can you tell?

I am actually thinking of getting one even though I won't be jumping those kind of jumps EVER, but I do trail ride a lot and lots of stuff can happen out on the trail.

I can't believe NBC couldn't show the Dixie. Absolutely disgraceful. Horrible coverage. Same old overdone dramatic music, focusing on one or two individuals for 2 hours. Total garbage.

As long as they don't do "Top Chef: Preakness" or the Top Five Horse Moments from the Newly Cancelled Law & Order, it'll still beat the Derby and Oaks coverage.

Love the TAP/Battaglia interview. "Think he has a chance to win the triple crown?" Battaglia

Pletcher, "Well I know he is the only one with a chance."

Great stuff.

At least on the Derby coverage, they showed the Early Times.

I went riding last weekend- at this point in the pregnancy I'm just walking and a wee bit of trotting in a ring, but the horse spooked. Nothing major, but it unfortunately happened while the husband was watching, so now I think he wants me to get one of those vests, too!
