So only multi-millionaires can run for public office?

We have laws in America to prevent governance by only the rich. Campaign finance rules. Federal Election Commission. It has nothing to do with what anyone can afford or not. It has nothing to do with anyone's personal finances.

LOL - you mean except for that $65 million that they did cover? The only reason Romney couldn't pay back his loans is because he couldn't raise the money. He sure as heck did "ask".

Seems to be that the Clintons maintain long-term support from dedicated followers willing to contribute financially to their political careers (which I can't understand, myself).

Let me see if I get the prevailing thought correctly here: The Clintons have massive campaign debt. They've worked seven years to pay it off - speaking engagements, books, donors. This is bad. Working to pay off your debt to others is bad.

Romney has massive campaign debt. Never paid off. This is somehow admired more than the Clintons paying their debt off.

No I don't. Yes, Dell, they are doing all that in exchange for political contributions going to her campaign funds. It's not going into their personal pockets. Palin signs autographs and the money goes into her PAC, McCain gives a speech and the "cost" of buying a table goes into political donation to his campaign, etc - it's what they all do.
