Hey I'm no great Dubai proponent and where they're located geographically is surely quite helpful but they had horses from at least five continents run on World Cup night last year.

If you want to say that the Sheikh is totally over the top and the thing is overblown, I'd agree, but the BC is in no position to dispute with the DRC who hosts a "World Championship."

If Worlds Championship is defined as races with the largest cross section of countries, then Dubai rules the globe.

World Series > World Baseball Championship right? You get the point.

I would think that's what the BC is shooting for, right? I mean they've had increasing global involvement as an initiative for years.

It's certainly a lot easier for Asian and Australian horses to come to Dubai than America and that speaks to the reason why the BC is misguided in that approach. Hell, they're concerned about getting horses from all over the globe and they didn't even have one of the two best horses in training in this country last year!

You think the BC is interested in the Uruaguay champion? If the Uru. champ is any good/great the world's best horse wrangler Gokillthem will buy him and bring the horse were he belongs. You really think the BC wants some 40 claimer from Norway entered in the BC Classic?

As for not getting the best horses. Dirt horses race on dirt, Rubber on Rubber, Turf on Turf, if dirt isnt available were should Rachel have raced? Jockey Gold Cup?

perhaps the bc should get over their whole 'world championship' bs. it's not the world championships. it's supposed to be a day to showcase the nations breeders by exhibiting their best. if they offer enough money, others will send their best-just like they have in the past.

as for santa anita saying more came then they would have otherwise, that's incorrect. i remember reading comments from overseas connections saying they don't want to come to cali because it's too warm, and their horses are already getting into their winter mode. the bc should pare down their race card, and put the extra purses into the remaining races. that's the draw. not the surface, the location, it's the money!

I think there's a conflict between what you think the BC wants and what I think the BC wants. If they're going to put forth this "International World Championships" agenda then yes, I assume they want international involvement.

If you think that horses coming from Europe for the BC is enough then you must believe they're reaching their potential.

Who gives a damn who is more "worldly"? The Dubai races are in March, The BC is Nov. There is no competition between the two. It is stupid of them to even bring it up.

Honestly it is just another example of those in power in this business having a total disconnect from their customers and simply not understanding what they are. The entire "World championship" naming thing was a gimmick for TV (ESPN specifically) to promote. It appears these people have fallen for their own trick. And people wonder why things are so screwed up in this business....

I agree with you and the initiative is dumb. However, if they're foolish enough to bring up Dubai, they need to recognize that there's no comparison between the two.

You just assume it is a bs thing that they are using to cloak the real intention for the perm site. But then you realize this is horseracing and they may just be that dumb
